Wonderfully preserved, rustic, hand-hewn Norwegian square cut log cabin on Lake Superior. Large grounds with path to the convergence of Indian Camp and Deer Yard Creek. It includes a sloping rock shoreline that comes up to a very protected area we call “council flats”, a low lying area where Ojibway elders met when their family groups that migrated down to the lakeshore during the summer. If you look carefully you might find the old medicine wheel. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with lots of room to roam and enjoy nature was originally a farm house in the Hovland area built around 1832, which could make it the oldest log building in use in the Minnesota north. Please note: The historic nature of the home is a huge part of its charm, but a 150-year-old log home is not for everyone. We highly recommend you call and talk to our rental agents before your book. Also note, there is another cabin adjacent to Deer Creek that houses long-term renters. They are given a rental schedule and they are respectful of your privacy and peace. Rates quoted will be for 1-2 people. There is an additional $15/person/night fee for each additional guest. When booking reservations please be sure to enter your additional guests. Extra guest fees compensate for additional utility and cleaning fees and allow rates to directly reflect usage. If we do not receive the balance by the deadline, your reservation is subject to cancellation.
