This festival has two names: In Japan it is Pan-Pacific festival and in Hawaii it is Matsuri. The Matsuri is a means to enrich the participants and audiences of Hawaii with an exposure to Japanese culture. This festival has expanded and now many groups representing cultures of Pacific rim. To recognize the wide spectrum reach of this festival to bridge the gap between groups, the festival was renamed duly to Pan-Pacific Festival Matsuri in Hawaii.
Events of the festival includes Art shows, Pan-Pacific annual Hula festival and Matsuri Parade among some others. It also draws many thousand participants, viewers and large number of volunteers to Honolulu who successfully marks this event. The festival goes at a stretch for three days in four separate stages and ends with Hawaii parade where participants are from high schools ,both local and mainland. |
