The Hawaii’s Plantation Village provides a mesmerizing sight into the lives and experiences of the Hawaii’s sugar plantation workers. This outdoor museum consists of buildings, both replicated and original, and includes a Japanese temple, a cookhouse, a Japanese bathhouse (furo), a general store, a Chinese social hall, a Japanese temple and characteristic worker’s homes. These structures are furnished with real artefacts denoted by the local families which bring back the atmosphere of the 1800s and the early 1900s and display the history of Hawaii’s multi ethnic heritage. The plantation village also houses a narrow gauge steam locomotive attached to a cane hauling car that was widely used during the era.

The Hawaii’s Plantation Village has been a primary destination for the local youth since it opened its door to the public in 1992. Every year it attracts around 9,000 tourists from all over the world. The visitors are required to join one of the guided tours that start at every hour beginning Monday through Saturday at 10:00 am to 2:00pm. There is ample free parking for the visitors and the plantation village is well connected via buses that run after every half an hour. All individuals above 3 years of age are required to pay the admission charges.
