Waikiki Aquarium is among the premier marine institutions in City & Country. This Aquarium was founded in the year 1904 on March 19. It is the 3rd oldest aquarium in the US. Since the year 1919, Waikiki Aquarium has been the institution of University of Hawaii System.
Located amid the living coral reef on Waikiki shoreline, this aquarium is a home to over 3.055 organisms of around 464 species of the marine animals and plants. Every year, more than 3,50,000 tourist come to this place to see these sea animals and plants. This aquarium was formed by Honolulu Rapid Transit Authority who is now a forerunner of Oahu transit services. This huge aquarium was established with the hope that it would entice the travelers to ride trolley throughout the way to end of line at the Queen Kapi’olani Park where this aquarium is positioned.
