Displaying the new possessions of the Art in Public Places Collection, Accession ’09 features amazing recent commissions, purchases, and gifts that displays the outstanding work that has been collected over the years by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Established by the State Legislature in 1965, The Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts is the Hawaiian official art gallery. The State’s role as the benefactor of the arts was further amplified with the foundation of Art in Public Places Program in 1967.
This art exhibition includes artists such as Laura Smith, Jerry Okimoto, Toshiko Takaezu, Kenneth Bushnell, Reiko Brandon and Charles Higa. The Hawaii State Art Museum is located at the 250 S. Hotel Street Honolulu, HI and provides free admission to the visitors. It remains open through Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. |
