The Kauai Concert Association started in 1974 with just 2 or 3 concerts per year. Today, it presents an 8 concert season with a varied range of dance, classical, jazz and world music for the edification and the enjoyment of the Kauai residents and visitors.
The Kauai Concert Association has over the years hosted such performers as the Oakland Ballet, Chanticleer, Hiroshima, San Francisco Opera, Black Grace, Ernie Watts, and Bela Fleck. The performances are majorly organized at Kauai’s most contemporary and acoustically superb venue, the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center Theater. The attendance at these concerts has increased tremendously over the past decade with over 3,000 guests coming in the 2007-08 season.
The Kauai Concert Association has also introduced Educational & Scholarship components to their mission in the recent years and awarded $10,000 for needy students in 2007-08 to assist them continue with their musical studies. |
